WatchSurvival is on Twitch! Plus my recent H1Z1 addiction.

Hello survivors!  I recently started up a twitch stream for those who are interested in that kinda thing.

Watchsurvival Twitch

I won't have no regular schedule or nothing but most of the time my playing times will be mid to late afternoon.  I will be streaming a lot of H1Z1 most likely but I will stream 7 Days,  The Forest,  The Long Dark ect as well.   Which brings me to the second point of this post!

H1Z1 is awesome!  Seriously,  I'm having a blast. So much so in fact that I've still not posted a survival list update because I can't stop playing the game.  I've been playing it almost every day since the launch day.  The devs have been really great with updates and community feedback and they have the game rolling in the right direction.  I try not to be biased here on Watchsurvival but I will be honest I'm enjoying the game a ton more than Dayz mod or Dayz Stand Alone.   H1Z1 has been built from the ground up to handle this genre and SOE has the means and the developers to make it into something great.   Please don't let the cheesy reviews scare you away from this one, there has been a lot of feedback from idiots trying to say this game is pay2win and that is simply not true which they would realize have they actually played the game in the first place before bashing it. Trust me I can't stand pay 2 win titles and I would not be playing this game if it was. Most other negative comments have already been worked out of the game as the game is indeed early access and many things need to be added and tweaked.  I sort of wish steam would not allow for reviews on early access titles because as I said most negative reviews are about things that simply need adjusting because it is a game in Alpha, but I understand why they do it.

I'll end this post with a quick video of me and my wife and another close friend taking a truck some of you might find amusing!

Carry on survivors!

Updates coming soon!

Hello fellow survivors!  I know it has been a while since my last post but I'm still alive and kicking.  I'll will be updating the list this weekend to include quite a few new games as well as another Tag that people are requesting.  Survival list just keeps getting bigger and bigger!   Lot of good hopefuls this year.   H1Z1 Starts early access on steam tomorrow.  I am looking forward to that.   Project Zomboid just keeps getting better and better and I'm currently having a blast with the latest build of that as well. I've also been enjoying The Long Dark, it is quite nice.   Look forward to updates soon! Hope everyone had some Happy Holidays!

Keep surviving out there!

Watchsurvival Games List Updated! The Long Dark , Still Alive, H1Z1

Hello and well met survival fans!  I have updated the Survival game list to include a few more games headed our way!  I may not post much news as of late but I am indeed still trying to keep the survival games list updated which is the reason most of you are here anyways.  I really recommend following Watchsurvival on Facebook if you want to see updates for games and what most of them are currently up to as it is much easier to follow updates there from the different developers and games.  Thanks everyone! Keep surviving out there!

The Long Dark
Homepage: http://intothelongdark.com/
Forums: http://hinterlandforums.com/

The Long Dark seems to be getting a lot of buzz right now and is being talked about as being a great survival game that will be more based on actual survival than most other games out there.  I am really looking forward to see this game take shape and see which direction it goes in.

Still Alive
Homepage:  http://www.stillalivegame.com/
Forums: http://forum.stillalivegame.com/

Still Alive seems to be a great little 2d based multiplayer survival game.

H1Z1

Forums:  Not Seeing an official forum yet.

H1Z1 probably doesn't need much introduction by now unless you are living under a rock.  As an avid gamer of Everquest for years and a personal fan of SOE online games, I cannot tell you how excited I am for this game.  I am really looking forward to it and I believe it may be the zombie survival MMO that I honestly wanted Dayz to be.  I am trying to not jump on the hype train to keep myself from getting disappointed but I really hope this game is everything SOE is claiming that it will be.

Long Winded Watchsurvival updates! New Games! News and My thanks!

Good day survivors!  I had some time off tonight so I thought I would go through some updates with all these recent comments.   The website is really picking up and I think that is great.  It is very awesome to see so many contributing to Watchsurvival.

The Watchsurvival facebook page is starting to pick up as well and is getting followers and likes. https://www.facebook.com/Watchsurvival   That doesn't seem like much to a lot of you I am sure, but to me I think that is really great.

I also want to note I do not "advertise" Watchsurvival,  I do not buy "likes"  Every like on facebook and every comment on this website are all from the real deal survival gamers.  You found this website on Google or from my posting on survival game forums or from friends.   I think it is silly to try to force people into likes or gaining followers.  I will not "buy" likes.  I don't want random people who have no clue "Liking"  Watchsurvival on facebook or joining in on Watchsurvival.  I want the real gamers and real survival game fans to enjoy this.  This community is growing and it's all because of you real survival gamers supporting the cause.  For that I give you all a very big Thank You.

Which also brings me to another problem and that is spammers.  If you visit the site often you will probably see these comments from time to time.  I'm on edge about it because on one hand I get so many awesome comments from a lot of you under anonymous and get good new game info from all of you Anon's as well.   This is the part I enjoy.  People can post quickly and not take up much of their time worrying about memberships and logging in ect.   The problem with this is that it makes it very easy for Spammers and spam bots to also post on this website.  For the time being I am keeping anon on because of all you awesome anon's that post. I am posting a warning here though. If the spamming gets too out of hand or too out of control I will be forced to take action and disable anonymous posting.  I just wanted to give all you friendly anon's a heads up.  Keeping anon posting for now but may have to disable in the future.

Which brings me to another point.  It's obvious a lot of you enjoy your time here and a lot of you enjoy good survival game discussion with other fellow survival game fans.   Because of this I am considering opening up a Message Board/ Forum for Watchsurvival!  This will probably be happening sometime soon in the future.

Anyways on to the reason your here! The games!  New games added to the survival game list are:

Sir, You are being hunted
Wrecked (mini game)
Xsyon  (MMO)
No Return
Nether (MMO)
Zombox
The Stomping Land

All Comments I have addressed are below for your viewing pleasure.

"Darkwoods has a forum btw http://forums.acidwizardstudio.com/"

Nice Catch! I've updated the survival games page with their forum link.

"A survival game called 'Sir, You are being hunted' has recently came onto public alpha on Steam and other stores. "

Added this game and their forums to the Survival games list.  Thanks for finding it.

"Here's one to add to the list, it's called "Wrecked"

Done. I've added it to the outdated section as I'm honestly not sure what category to post this one under, perhaps I will make a "Mini Survival" games section in the future.

"survivor fps
  xsyon
drath's list Wilderness Survival Games"

Survivor fps is already added to the list thanks. Good Eye on Xsyon I've added it to the list under the MMO section.    As for the Wilderness Survival games list, I have noticed a lot of those are already on Watchsurvival. I will review the others soon that are not on Watchsurvival and add them accordingly.

'NO RETURN' -- 3D Open World Wilderness Survival & Hunting Game"

Added to the list. Thanks for the find.  I've included the indiedb page as their forum page.

 "Nether -- SURVIVAL-HORROR MMO"

Done. Added to the List under MMO Will update forums once they add it in.

"This game looks promsing and you might wanna add it to your list :) (Cool site btw, just needs better categories I think! eg. Zombies! haha)  Zombox
Cool as :)"

Nice find! I've added Zombox to the survival games list.

"Hey just found your website and i was looking through the list and i didnt see a survival game i have been following, the name is "The Forsest". And Now that i think of it, Not sure if you have it or not, but Also "The Stomping Land".

The Forest is already listed on watchsurvival thank you!  As for The Stomping Land I've add it to the list under the MMO section!  Thanks for that, good find!

Watchsurvival Updated with Playable Tags!

Hello survival fans!  I've updated the survival games list with part 1 of the new tagging system I'm working on.  The survival games list will now inform you if the game is playable or not without having to figure that part out yourself.   I've also moved all games marked as playable to the top of their categories.  Hopefully this helps you game more and research less.   Have a good day everyone!

Watchsurvival update (second update today) Three more games added. Rebirth, Marooned: Arkanus Island, Wayfarer: The Outer Reaches.

Hello again! Found a few more games I forgot to add (oops). I also wanted to note I have disabled comments for the Survival Games list page as it was up to over 50 comments and was making the page really large and was extra loading the games list didn't need.  DON'T PANIC. You can still suggest games and leave comments on the "Contact Watchsurvival" tab of the website. From now on leave all game suggestions there.  Thanks.

Survival Games List updated! Six more survival games added: Timber and Stone, Wurm Online, 7 Days to Die, Miscreated, Zday, Survivor Zero

Hello survivors! Took a little time off today to update the survival games list with some fresh games.  I just want to again remind everyone that I read all your comments and your suggestions and I try to get to them when I can, please do not think your comments or suggestions go unnoticed.  2013 is the year of survival games as the survival games list just keeps getting bigger and bigger!  Keep the suggestions coming!  Also I am looking for more feedback for the website. If any of you have website suggestions on layout or features or anything else for that matter please leave suggestions or comments. If you think everything is fine as it is, feel free to say that as well.  I feel like as a whole the survival genre needs a community so I may possibly be adding a forum in the future to watchsurvival if others agree and think that is a good idea.   Don't forget to give Watchsurvival a like on facebook as well https://www.facebook.com/Watchsurvival as I share all types of survival game related stuff there as well (no spam I promise) anyways, on to the reason you came here. Watchsurvival Games list updated! Towns / Gnomoria / Stonehearth / The Forest

Hello and well met survival fans.  Just a quick update to let everyone know I've updated the survival games page with a few games.

-----------------------------------------------

Towns is a really cool roguelike style survival game I actually already owned for quite some time. I have no idea why it slipped my mind to include it on the list. lol

Stonehearth looks really awesome and appears to be a 3d type roguelike survival game. Their kickstarter was successfully funded by quite a lot. I've found a couple of videos below.  This game has me really interested.

Kickstarter page also has another video.   http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1590639245/stonehearth?ref=card

The Forest

This game looks really cool from the trailer. I thought everyone would want to check it out. Looks to be a great mix of survival/horror.

The Forest is currently located on a Strem Greenlight page.

That's all for now.   I am going to be updating the survival games page soon with flags beside the game names so everyone will be able to see what stage of production the games are in so it is easy to determine if the game is already in a playable state or not.  I've been planning on this feature for a while now and will get to it soon.    Keep surviving out there!

I've updated Watchsurvival's Game list page to include the following games. Also In the coming weeks I am going to be adding Certain labels to the watchsurvival games list to include things like (playable, not yet playable, ect) so everyone will be able to sort the ones that are currently playable now instead of having to find out by going to the game page first.  That will be coming soon. Watchsurvival Present's Project Zomboid Running through hordes.

Hey everyone! I posted a quick video to display what it is like trying to run through hordes in the latest test release version of Project Zomboid.  I did this because in previous builds you could run right through them and not get a scratch on you.  As you can see in this video the difficulty in the newest to be released version is being ramped up a lot and things are a lot more risky now.  Enjoy the vid.

Watchsurvival News: Survival Games list updated!

Hello and well met everyone.  It is now 4am my time, but I am done with overhauling the Survival Games List page.  I hope everyone enjoys the new layout and finds it easy to navigate.  Leave some comments and let me know what you think!   Keep Surviving!

Watchsurvival Update News.

Thought I'd post a quick update to let everyone know I've been working on Watchsurvival some.  I've added a Contact page to make it easy for people to contact me should they wish to do that.  I've also added a subscriber gadget for news readers for people who like that kinda thing.  I also added a Labels section so you can sort through posts you wish to see more easy.

Last but not least I've removed the middle advertisement under the blog posts for those who view the site without Adblock installed.  I was ok with the middle advert at first because most the time it seemed to be a gaming advert and I was ok with that, but today I was browsing my site and updating with Ads enabled to check them out and I seen a dreaded advertisement with a green "DOWNLOAD" button and I said "OH *^# NO"  I can't stand that stuff when I'm browsing the web and I don't want my fellow gamers and survivalists putting up with it either.  While this may make the website revenue go down I could care less. I do this website for the gamers not the income.   I would love for this website to become my full time job but I'm a realist and know it's simply wishful thinking.  I've kept the side advertisement for now and I want to thank all of you who help support the site, but I want you guys/girls/aliens/zombies to know it's all about the gaming and it always will be.

Zargo

PS. Almost forgot!  I'm also going to be updating the Survival Game List Page here soon with (hopefully) a much better layout and better format that is easier on everyone with a little more information.  I'm still thinking about how I want it and still working out the small details though but that will be happening soon for sure.   Stay safe gamers!

Project Zomboid Bug Squishing Guide RC2.5

I've decided to write up a small guide on setting up Project Zomboid with RC2.5 to be as bug free and as playable as possible. I'm doing this because I know a lot of people out there are really looking forward to the next update as well as getting anxious to play the game with all the new features.

Indiestone is hard at work on the next update which is adding a completely revamped world. A ton of new features, a new interface plus way to many other things to list. Basically they are completely reworking the game from the ground up to make it as fun and as smooth as they possibly can.  This is taking a lot of time but it is very much going to be worth it. Until then though, in order for us fellow PZ fans to get their fix and have fun with the game we currently have a few options.

First option is playing the latest stable version of the game which is 1.5d. This version is really smooth and stable but it is missing so many fun and exciting features that the newer versions of the game have.  The second option is playing RC2.5 which was the last test release update of the game. This version has the new animation system and the better graphics and the larger city and a few other great features but sadly has lot of stability and bug issues that crop up.  After quite some time and a lot of forum reading later. The fellow PZ modding community and a few other fans have figured out work arounds and bug fixes of their own to make RC2.5 quite a lot more stable and a lot less buggy and generally the most fun version of the game to date to play while we wait for the very awesome rework update.   Following this small guide will show you how to setup the newest version with the most features while squishing a lot of the bugs that make RC2.5 unplayable for most.  Anyways on to the guide.

Project Zomboid Bug Squishing Guide Rc2.5 (For windows systems)

First Obviously is to buy the game here  http://www.desura.com/games/project-zomboid
The 7.99 Project Zomboid Alpha Version is fine. The 49.99 version is for people that wish to help further support the development of PZ.  Both Versions will give you the same game.

Second, once you officially own the game follow the below link and download the latest test release of the game.

http://theindiestone.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=9404
Download RC2.5 for windows and install it. This is going to be the main game we use to play and the base of everything else we are going to fix.  Also make sure your java is the correct version needed to play the game. We need to make sure RC2.5 is installed and working first before we can go about fixing the bugs in it to make it as stable as we can.

It is also common knowledge from the community that starting the game with the EXE file also casues issues and problems for quite a few people.   Delete the Shortcut that was created when you installed the game and navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Project Zomboid (or just program files without the (x86) part for those without 64bit Operating systems) and locate Project Zomboid.bat  The icon should show little gears on it and it should be very small in size and it should say windows batch file under the type section.   Right click that file and make it a shortcut on your desktop. This is what you should use to start the game up and to play it.  Double click that now and start it up and make sure the game starts and works correctly (also if you just purchased the game you will need to enter your Desura key in at this time which can be found on your dersura account)

If your having trouble starting RC2.5 or other minor issues follow this link http://theindiestone.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=7376 and see if any of those common issues and fixes help.

Ok so we got RC2.5 installed now and we have the shortcut on desktop to start it from the Bat file instead of the exe.  That's a great start.  Now we need to go about adding bug fixes to this version of the game to make it playable and stable enough to enjoy.

There is currently an issue with the handguns and reloading in the RC2.5 version of the game. We will fix this issue first.

Go to http://theindiestone.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=8991 and download RC2.0 (the Rar version NOT the EXE.  The rar version says Windows Batch  in front of it. We are not going to play this version we are simply taking the working files we need out of it to fix RC2.5.

We need two files out of this version of project zomboid to fix the handgun issues that are in RC2.5 What we need are stormysReload.lua and LuaJavaInvoker.class

Unrar the rar file and navigate to the folder C:\Users\Zargo\Downloads\pz_020r_rc2\Project Zomboid\media\lua   (obviously replace Zargo with your own PC's user name and also replace downloads if you downloaded and extracted it to a different location.) and grab stormysReload.lua and just drag it to your desktop for now temporarily.  We will come back to it in a second.

Now navigate to C:\Users\Zargo\Downloads\pz_020r_rc2\Project Zomboid\se\krka\kahlua\integration\expose (obviously again replace Zargo with your pc's username and replace downloads if you downloaded and extracted to a different location) and look for the file LuaJavaInvoker.class  grab that file and drag it also to your desktop like you did with the previous file.

Now that we have both the files needed to fix handguns we are ready to place them where they belong to get handguns working in the version we are going to play.   Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Project Zomboid\media\lua and drag and drop stormysReload.lua from your desktop into this folder.  If it is the correct location it will ask you if you wish to replace the file with the other one. Say yes to replace it.

Now navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Project Zomboid\se\krka\kahlua\integration\expose
and Drag and drop the file LuaJavaInvoker.class from your desktop into this folder.  If it is the correct location it will ask you if you want to replace the current file. Say yes to this to replace it.

There we go Handguns are now fixed in the game and will work and reload properly when we play it. You may now delete the RC2.0 stuff that you downloaded and unrar'd because we no longer need it.

We are almost done here.  Thankfully the Wonderful modding community of Project Zomboid has made the rest of the bug fixes rather easy for the rest of us.   I like to give credit where credit is due and would like to thank

Watchsurvival updated a bit

I'm just posting here to let everyone know that I've changed "what is watchsurvival"  page into "Survival Games List."  I've updated the page with quite a lot of new games for everyone to check out, due to a friendly anonymous survival fan updating me on what I was missing out on. (thanks man/woman) If anyone else happens to find other survival games I should add to the list please contact me and let me know.  I may not cover all of these games on the home page with all of their updates but I will try to do what I can.   At the very least they are listed so everyone may see them and not miss out on them.   Thanks everyone for the support and please be sure to give watchsurvival a +1 on Google if you have the time.

watchsurvival news

hello everyone. Just writing a quick update from my phone. I wanted to let everyone know why I have not posted this week.  As I have mentioned before I am moving in real life to a new home. Well the move is finally over and I am in the process of getting my new internet connection for my new home.  This will happen next week sometime so there may be a few days here where there is a lack of posts/news.  I promise to get everything updated once my new home has internet capabilities.  Just wanted to let everyone know that way everyone did not think the blog was dead or something.  Far from it.  watchsurvival is getting more and more followers every week and im going to be doing more videos here very soon and I will also be updating the website with a new layout and smoothing a few more things out.  I also wanted to thank all of you for viewing my site and giving me a like on google and also for clicking on my ads.  This means a lot to me and just wanted to say thanks for the support.  Stayed tuned and stick around. Watchsurvival is going to keep expanding.
